What to do this weekend

This weekend is (yet again) jam-packed with fun things.

Kentucky DerbyAs a matter of fact, my favorite margarita drinking holiday (Cinco de Mayo) coincides with my favorite gambling day (The Kentucky Derby)! I know nothing about racing other than picking based on the colors of the silks, but I do know a few good margarita recipes. The two go together quite nicely – I will wear a big hat while drinking a good margarita and guess the outcome of the races with the best of ‘em. If you want more than a big hat and a margarita, here are just a few ideas of the great things happening this weekend. I will have to go by Starr Hill Brewery to stock up for the festivities.

Downtown is really busy this weekend. Fridays After Five kicks off the weekend, followed by First Friday’s at the local galleries and City Market will pop up on Saturday morning. You can take part and stay downtown with this great WishWish package.

Grit City GrassIf you don’t get enough fresh produce at City Market, Carter Mountain Orchard has fresh strawberry picking available along with a Spring Fling Craft Fair. Take your harvest home and get ready for local band Grit City Grass to keep you entertained for the afternoon at Stinson Vineyards.

If you would like to admire the great work of local designers, you can help Shelter for Help in Emergency by going to Design House 2012. This beautifully designed home is open for tours starting Saturday, May 5th through May 20th.

Monday will come way too quickly, but I am sure this weekend will be great! What are your plans for this weekend?
