What to do this weekend – Father’s Day edition

Father's Day gift ideas

Dads around Virginia are being honored this weekend. Some are spending time with the kids and getting hand-made crafts while others are getting highly-anticipated time off on their own. Regardless of how you are honoring Dad this weekend, we would like to WishWish all of the dads out there a very Happy Father’s Day!

Here is a sampling of the cool fun things that you can do this weekend:

Go on a day trip: We found this great site of sometimes odd things to do is great to discover quick and easy trips that are steps from your back door. In this area, you can go to the last poled ferry in the U.S., the Hatton Ferry. If you were a fan of The Walton’s – you can go to their museum, which is the home that inspired the TV show (I had no idea this was in Virginia!). I wonder how many of the guides are tired of hearing “good night John-Boy”. If you want to be sure to find something cool – plan a trip to cascade down a waterfall.

If all Dad wants is to be left in peace and have some fun, get him a round of golf, send him for some award-winning craft brew, or just let him get lost with a guide in the mountains.

Maybe Dad wants a little power – Central Virginia does not disappoint. In Ruckersville, there is the Mid-Atlantic Power Festival. It features a Demolition Derby, rock crawling, tractor pulls, bull riding and much more. I am not sure you could fit more testosterone in one day – good thing it is going on through the 16th. (It is not specified, but I think shaving is discouraged for this event.)

P.S. – it is not too late to get on-time delivery of something really fun for Dad – shop over 200+ fun things to do!
